Salem Parking - Leave extra time during October
Bring quarters or use the Passport Parking app zone 264 for most downtown Salem meters, 4 hours max. The Sewall Street parking lot (between Lynde & Essex Streets near the Salem Y) behind 254 Essex charges $1/hour. Street meters charge $1.50 an hour. You may find free parking a short walk away on Canal Street. Street parking in Salem is free until noon Sundays and free on holidays. US Veterans can park free anytime with a MA Veterans plate.
MBTA Salem Garage off Bridge Street, Route 107. Parking is $5/day weekdays, $2/day weekends. The MBTA Garage only uses the PayByPhone parking app, location 4475. Do not pay at the entrance. Drive into the garage and park. Then use the app to pay. Exit at level 2, walk down Washington Street 3 blocks to Essex St and turn right. See the map below.
